Some noob questions about competition analysis

Hi, im planning on making a site, do some SEO and monetize it with adsense, i look for keywords using keyword shitter and use adwords keyword tool to check how profitable the longtails are, but i have doubts what to look for when checking the competition with Moz in google SERPS, for instance if my site is in the decoration niche, for what keyword should i check competition in google? Just the main keyword for my site "decoration for" or should i check every longtail i want to rank? example: "decoration for bedrooms" "decoration for living rooms" and so on?

Nice question.. You just concentrate on high searches keywords about 1000 to 3000 a month,don't exceed from that and check competition level. There is some level to choose the best and low competition keywords in SERP. Keep it mind when you choose the keyword that would be to make you spend less amount for SEO for your site.

You want to check exact keywords you are going to rank for and you are going to rank keywords you are able to rank. In other words you want to go for the least generic keywords you can.
