Some Funny Things About Working With Ai

When your pro subscription runs out and you are just about to save the world or get rich. All of a sudden ai it cant remember what it did 2 queries ago. Then it is increasingly making excuses about how it cant help unless you deplete all your file uploads etc for the day.

Then you try copy and pasting long code and that eventually stops working and they limit calls, so you cannot use mouse-clicks and have to ctrl-c to copy. Then you try to split 2000 lines of code into 4 messages to find the error "quickly".

You signed up to what you hope was a legit new company with free daily generations.

What desperate attempts have you made to keep pushing out work when your tokens or limits run out?

To meet deadlines, I've resorted to breaking down and rewriting large sections repeatedly, while switching between various tools to make the most of leftover credits. Even after all that effort, I only just barely made it to the end.
 
Buy a quick, cheap account on the black market and get the work done there... I actually did this, I think 2 weeks ago when I hit the limit : D

And I used the burner account for about a week before switching back to my main account

I have never hit the daily limit in the first place, at-least during real programming work. I don't, probably because:

1. I don't use ai agents to change button color, for example.
2. I use it mostly to generate one module at a time. Let's say I am working on making some email marketing platform's UI. I would instruct the agent to make let's say, the campaigns list first. Then I would start a new session and tell it to make campaign detail.. and so on. This way the context does not pile up and become huge.
3. Whenever I make a new module with an agent, I also ask it to make a detailed summary (let's say an expert) of how this module works, so that it has a quick overview of the module for the future work. I ask it to save the summary in a markdown file (I use a special folder for that).

Try this approach out, I think it will help.


P.S. for personal stuffs, I use Antigravity Editor and I have google's AI pro plan which I got for free. I do use this plan for going full "vibecoding" mode. Once I run out of tokens, I just wait till the tokens are replenished.

Then suddenly:

You’ve reached your daily limit.

Now you're switching between different AI tools, splitting huge prompts into tiny pieces, opening another account, or trying to explain the same problem to a completely different AI that has no idea what you were doing 5 minutes ago.
 
The memory thing is pissing me off at the moment. Created a new stylometry for an experiment and it started to pull in data and discussions from other chats. Also spent 2 hours line editing the wrong draft because it forgot what draft we were on.
 
I also go for a modular design, generating one module at a time. Even then, it runs out of free quota, and then I switch to another account. :D

True, I have been a cheapass! Things have gotten much better over last 2 years, and sometimes you have to spend money to make money, glad to hear from you my friend!

Yes, I did it and it just ran out, funny how all of a sudden I needed it more than ever! Might have to do that again, thanks for the reminder.

I usually dont either, but even on pro was having issues with all the things going on at once all of a sudden. The module is what I decided on too several months ago, that is solid advice that only comes from experience, hope others learn from your wisdom! My problem is the modules got more complex and numerous, then I get to different versions on top of it!

Totally, I will try to then upload that file there and start it that way if not too complex! Lately, Im developing new ststems so there is more testing and variations, I wonder what you are up to over there!
 
Wow! modular coding and modular design. It got deprecated like 25 years ago and was replaced by oops object oriented programming style. Well i guess we are going back in time with ai because ai is still dumb?

When the limits hit at the worst possible moment, you get creative! splitting code, switching tools, and squeezing every last free generation.

Gotta keep the work moving somehow!

Yeah ai that is released is still dumb I think and it keeps messing it up, and so am I, but I have to start somewhere!

We do what we have to do to keep grinding!
 
Honestly, the most desperate move you can make is having three different free AI tabs open at once. By the time you finish explaining the whole backstory to each new bot, you could have just fixed the problem yourself already. We have all been there at some point. :)
 
That's basically why the first skill i perfected with claude was handoff. So i build first a general roadmap, save in memory, handoff, then i create every detail to the roadmap (with handoffs in the middle)... well, i keep running out of credits because i'm developing a huge system, but i take every bit of code i could with that (along with several optimization skills in between the handoffs)

Dont worry haha, I am not that desperate, just joking around! But I did do similar with video generations when I was testing a couple years ago.

I will definitely had to split tasks into smaller chunks and restart conversations just to keep things moving. At this point, finding workarounds for AI limits feels like part of the workflow.
