The other day, I sold my Playstation 3 (fully boxed and sealed) for £200.

I got the payment via Paypal all fine.

So I dispatched the item to him. He lives really far away. For me to get a taxi to his location would cost £150. (one way).. so there is really no chance of that happening..

he basically disputed the money back. so, what can I do? is that the end of the PS3?

When he disputed the money back did you appeal?
Contact Paypal and Ebay and tell them you have returned his money and now you should get the PS3 back.

What do you mean he disputed the money back?
Do you mean he opened a dispute.
Isn't the money still in your account?
Whenever I have had a dispute the money has stayed in my account
until I have responded. If you sent physical goods you should have a
tracking code as no one would send a PS3 by normal post.
upload that to paypal and they should judge in your favour.
What is the reason for the dispute?
Non recite or goods not as described?
What does it say in your resolution centre?

Always ensure that you document everything before doing any kind of transaction, especially on ebay. That way if you run into a bastard like the one in the OP, you'll be able to prove that you did exactly as promised, which blows the scammer's case out of the water.

Also, always be quick about setting up disputes with Paypal/ebay. I learned that the hard way when some guy scammed me a few years ago, he strung me along claiming that the package was in the mail, right up until the dispute window for paypal transactions expired. Needless to say I'm far more careful about transactions these days.
