I just put this in the lounge because it's not massively important right now, however, it could be to some of you.
Being in investment banking and whatnot I have a lot of analyst buddies who are on all of the FB conference calls, etc and get all of their usage reports because they cover it as one of their stocks.
Well just heard today that Facebook put out a note about a massive drop in time spent online per user, and also they are now acknowledging that over 10% of their accounts are fake (although most data analyst companies say it's closer to 30% fakes) and roughly 30 million are of people that are already deceased.
A couple people have even noted that Rupert Murdoch put out a memo and a tweet that said the first sign that he knew Myspace was going down the tubes was a huge drop in time spend online per user, and he said ZuckerTurd should start getting concerned.
So, I wonder how this will effect the BHW and other IMs trying to do business on there? Might need to move into some new things like Pheed, Vine, etc. IG is already getting loaded up and I just heard that Yahoo! may try to make a bid to buy Tumblr for $1.1 Billion so they could implement some higher security and banning.
Seems every network we all get our hands on eventually dies, but you know what doesn't die? Building is a big fat juicy list. Just use social media as a gateway to build lists for everything! Email marketing, and now more than ever, begin using opt-in landing pages for SMS/MMS etc... that market is where email marketing was in 2001. Just keep building and cleaning and sorting lists and eventually it will never matter what network is banning you or going in and out of style.
