There's no harm at all in resurrecting something that's still true. People can take in all the innovative information they like, and it won't be for nothing, but at the same time it is completely vital to keep an eye on what's tried and true. The things that contribute to a fundamental understanding of what makes a blog successful haven't changed much, and it's good to see people not forgetting that.
