12k inlinks according to yahoo site explorer. Awesome. Wonder how long this will stick?

#1 result is vi4gra.c0m

but if you're searching with the terms 'viagra online without prescription', what you mentioned is #3 result

I searched it on mine and it is the third like OP stated...

Here has 271 edu sites for back links don't know if that helps...

He had some good prices... LOL

How did you all order?

Have a blessed one...

Although I'm entertained by the banter, I was hoping for more insightful discussions about how this guy did it. Did he buy a dropped domain? How does he "extend" the ranking... every time I've ever bought a dropped domain it has lost any pr very quickly.

@ZMadHatter et al

This is done by hacking. These sites are well established site with many back links and good PR. Hackers inject code into pages on the site which contains keyword rich text and many links to their spam sites. This code is cloaked to only appears when visited by the google crawler. This is a way for them to get tons of high quality backlinks. A side effect of this is that some of these sites have so much weight with Google they get well ranked just for having that content.

The sites have a javascript redirect injected. There is a script that checks the referrer and search term. If your search contained "viagra" and the referrer is one of the 16 search engines listed you are redirected to the pharma site. Otherwise you get the real site.

I'm assuming writing the script is cake compared to injecting it into the site's code? I'm further assuming it is some kind of exploit in the CMS the site is built with?

@ZMadHatter - you assume correctly. Most the guys doing this stuff how lots of software to automate the process. They scan hacker boards and IRC for new CMS related vulnerabilities and create scripts to exploit them. Also alot of the time 1 site on a shared server will be vulnerable allowing them to take control of the server and infect all the other sites on it. Its pretty crazy what some of these kids are doing.

This has been going on for a very long time. I remember reading a thread about this exact same subject over a year ago.

I was just talking with a buddy about this. If I was the site owner I would change the page around to work in my favor for my own ads and then send a thank you email to the dude who hacked it.

If someone would like to "hack" one of my sites and get it ranking for a money keyword I am available.

This is easily done by hacking and is a very old trick.

You see it all the time, especially within the prescription drugs, adult, gambling, and other similar niches.

This is a total Hijack!!! I checked "Viagra online" and it came up on the 2nd position. When i searched for "arkansas baptist", it came up as the first. The crazy thing is that clicking the search result from the "viagra online" search displays the viagra website while the "arkasas baptist" search displays the college homepage both on the same domain!
The college may never find out what is going on if they don't have a good IT team.

It's impressive that a full 50% of the results for that search (in my area, at least) are .edu sites. I suppose it's expected - bad admins don't know how to keep their sites secure.
