Hi

My focus right now is to really learn how to get traffic, I want to master that and then tackle the problem of converting it into sales.

I'd appreciate some advice on which tools and methods I should start with, I am really quite new to SEO, I have a site that is nearly completed I just want to learn the craft, I am undecided on how I should spend the money for my initial site promotion.

I have a $125 google ad words credit, but I was thinking of using that once my knowledge is a bit better so I don't just waste it.

Should I purchase some bots myself like xTumble? or should I invest in some of the companies advertising here like Deadly SEO ?
Being a beginner I assume I would see better results by using an SEO service, but learning how to use bots seems like a more long term solution (I read zenoGlitch pdf file on BH botting which I really liked) ?

Or am I in the wrong frame of mine altogether?

Al you have to do is read BHW, and you will find all the information you need.

1. Start Learning about onpage seo first. Use IBP software to determine how you have to optimize your page.
2. Then Learn whats going around seo, google algorithms etc.. you will get a basic idea about how you have to proceed with creating backlinks.
3. Now you can start creating high quality backlinks that has original contents in it. I recommend you to do social bookmarking manually in 5-10 sites or get some fiverr gigs.
4. After 2-4 days you can start creating quality backlinks pointing to your website and some inner page with proper variation of anchor text.
5. Slowly create booster links (2nd tier links.. links pointing to your backlinks..)
6. Rinse and Repeat step 4 and 5.

There are many types of sites where you can create backlinks.. like Web 2.0, Article directories, PR, Forums, Bookmarking sites etc etc. you can do it randomly. or u cna get yourself a tool that can do these!

Do not buy programs or tools unless you have researched them and already have an exact purpose for them. BHW is an unlimited resource with a ton of information on every IM topic - especially SEO.

Goodluck!

A couple of people already said this, but since you said that you're new, and that you're looking to buy tools, can I advise that you don't touch tools with a bargepole!!!
You will anyway spend money on content, right? Instead of doing that, consider outsourcing micro tasks here on BHW, and using those reports, you can learn automatically :)
My 2 cents.

Please before you start posting OP, read, read, and then read some more. And don't be quick to jump in and spend your money because thats how you go broke if you don't know what you are doing. You say you wan to learn how to get traffic first, what workers for me in any project that I do is, find a good product or niche first and THEN concentrate on targeted traffic :) Goodluck

Yes..Just browse through the forum just like I was..there are tons of useful information that you can get here ...Don't spend your money on anything that you don't have any idea at all..I spent 1 year reading here to get all the knowledge and case study shared by the members...and try it yourself...and don't be afraid to fail...but fail wisely...

Keep going dude !! :)
