Ok, so this article popped up while browsing jalopnik, and reading through it i can't help but imagine what the hell would happen if we got hit such a solar storm, it talks a lot about the US in this scenario but this would be a global event and what the hell would happen to the internet on a long and short term scale? are our satellites effectively rendered useless after such a storm? the electricity grids globally would most likely be crippled.
Ive lived in countries that have regular power failures from a few hours up too a few days and even a country that's used to it barely functions if the power goes out.
if this would happen. what the hell would happen to the online world? nothing good thats for sure.
a bigger problem would be getting food to everyone depending on how long it takes to get the power grids back up.
