Well to begin with I want to say that I think Solana is one of the fastest networks in terms of transactions but I still think it's overrated and not reliable.

1. It had multiple network fails within 2021
2. It requires a supercomputer to run a validator node (just check system requirements on their documentation, it's insane)
3. The largest % is held by VCs (decentralized enough?)

I want to hear opinions as to why you think people still invest in it since there are multiple better alternatives out there.
Is it just hype or am I missing something here?

The multiple network failures in a short space of time made me uninterested in Solana. Clearly it's not designed well.

I think Solana is like Bitcoin, despite there being options it has a good brand and marketing so people will buy it to make money.

As i said in another thread, i mostly have BTC and ETH.
With theses failures on the Solona network it made me uninterested

on one hand, solana is much more centralized than, say, eth. on the other, you could argue that's part of the reason for its success; the powerful interests behind it are also very resourceful. alameda meme'd it into reality. also, when it works, it works like a charm.

What do you mean by network failure ? Does it mean situation where the transaction does not go through ?

Yes, a blockchain which can handle 50000 transactions in a second, costing $0.0002 per transaction which is also planning to deploy more nodes to 8x the amount of transactions that can be handled in a second is overrated.

Solana going to grow much more than now. The ecosystem is strong. From investor point of view Solana is one of the hot project rn to invest. The entry point is crazily low from where it will go. NFA tho

Yes, i think so
Could you explain why, or was it just for the post count? Have you read their WP? How many nodes do they have? Please tell me more, master.

Yes, it's fast. Is it reliable though? Not so sure.

I think they will work on their blockchain and everything will improve. In any case, it's better than insane eth commissions

Both Bitcoin and Eth are obsolete technology. They are only useful as a casino to allow the cokeheads
on Wallstreet to bet on the movement. They were never made to be used by the common man. Just
look at the re-dick-you-louse transaction costs they require.

Solana is the new alternative to Eth. The two tiny fails were just growing pains

Solana will only continue to grow because it is used by the video game developers as well as can be used
for payments and so much more.

Solana has problems as well, with storage and maintaining speed.

Genesysgo (https://genesysgo.medium.com/the-comprehensive-guide-to-genesysgo-and-the-shdw-ido-278b90d3186c)
is the answer to that and will increase the number of RPC servers over time and will allow the network to grow.
Genesysgo will become the infrastructure backbone for Solana.

You should be in cash at this moment. When the market and crypto crash/reset happens, expect Solana SOLs to
drop in price way down. I expect most of these coins that have exploded in the last year to drop like rocks and
those of us that missed their initial sales can finally buy.

Let everyone panic sell. You just sit there like a spider waiting to pounce when it gets low enough to attract your attention.

And if you ever buy NFTs make sure that they GENERATE REVENUE. (NFTs are not pretty pictures sold by some doped up rapper.
They are ""things", that when people buy them, that investment is used by the company to develop the game/system/network/metaverse.
In return, the company sets it up so that each "investor" is paid part of the revenue of the game/system/network/metaverse. Its like
getting equity in the company without the government being involved and the broker/dealer/scumbags taking a cut.

NFT's will allow video game creators (metaverse creators) to share revenue with users as well as "hooking" them in to the game.
Instead of just the "opium hit" the users get from gaming, they actually make money by being involved as well as "investing/staking"
their assets to help "finance" the game.

You can bet your bank account that EVERY single video game company is planning to make their game into a "metaverse"
And when Steam and Fortnite become metaverses, I WANT SOME.

You are wrong, bitcoin is not obsolete. When bitcoin was created they could have created smart contracts or create other thing but they didn´t do that because if you add more things, like smart contracts, you open doors to destroy something. Bitcoin exist with their know bugs, and no one will change it, but this make bitcoin secure.
About ethereum, this is the project that had have more innovation, was a shitty project and this is the reason why the i+d of cryptos is on etehreum.
I think you have a worng perpective.
About Sol, like one said, they promise a lot of transactions and good things, but i want to the see them. I am not involved in solana but i think other projects like cardano have more potential.

The fundamentals (utility value) of Solana are quite solid for long term growth. Anyways, always spread your investments. Do not miss out on FLUX. Also now is an awesome time to buy the coins and tokens of the top solid metaverse and web3 projects. Just spread the amounts you invest.

btc is far from obsolete. That one comment makes everything you've said after it dubious.

Solana is being manipulated by VCs.

Most bitcoin owners are in it for the long term.

Me for example. I won't sell my bitcoin next week. Or next month, or next year, or in 10 years, or 50 years.

I will never, ever, ever sell my bitcoin, and a HUGE amount of other btc owners feel the same.

Bitcoin is WAY more than you think it is.

Most people haven't even heard of layer 2 and layer 3 bitcoin. I'll just leave it at that. I personally still have 10's of millions of $ of btc to buy.

What was the cause of network fails caused with solana ?
