    Hi Guys/Girls,

I wanted to give my first contribution to the BHW. After a lot of reading I've realised that no on has really capatilized on making money with the brand name software niche.

Its pretty simple, if anyone of you can produce a good source of traffic for people looking to buy products such as microsoft office 2010, adobe photoshop CS5, Adobe Acrobat 9, and etc.

Basically all you have to do is create a wordpress review arround one item using keywords such as buy, sale, pricing, discount, cheap, etc. Once your ranking nice and high and have traffic looking to purchase any of these products, its time to monetize. You can put a buy now buttons for these items that link to an affiliates cart. I deal with a website that has competive prices and converts nice amount of sales.

As well, please lets use this thread to brainstorm any other ways we can exploit this market.

Yeah, your typical non-techie consumer usually believes that they're getting the best deal by buying direct from brands like MS and Adobe, maybe not the lowest price, but the best deal as in price combined with support, and for non-techie home users that's a purchasing concern with software.

And the ones who are just after the best price, they're usually headed to eBay not Google to find it.

Don't get me wrong, there's lots of money in software (I get a nice piece of my pie in this field), but hopping on big brands isn't exactly the easiest or most lucrative model in my experience.

If you can create your own products you're in a great position, then it's just a matter of applying basic marketing tactics (this forum is a goldmine for them) to get traffic and sales.

If you're not a coder or programmer, look for some "under the radar" vendors out there with niche titles and approach them about setting up some sort of affiliate arrangement.

You would be surprised how many folks with programming skills have created software centered around their own niche hobbies or interests, but have no idea how to reach consumers beyond their personal blogspot blogs.

Search some software sites for private vendor (programmer) shareware and trial/demo-ware, look for obscure or very niche titles, they likely have a small market but it's easier to dominate then, and just approach the creator with a proposal.

Find someone like that and strike a deal, and you could easily corner some niche if you have the marketing chops.

Also, realize that when you put the title of any piece of software in the adwords tool, probably 90% of that traffic is looking for troubleshooting/tutorials, etc.

People who use MS Word very rarely need to be "sold" on using it. But if you can rank for those terms, I'm sure you can create a "review" style landing page and show them a few different places where they can buy it - all obviously using your own AffID

    Hi Guys,

Thank you all for your replies. Your feedback is much appreciated.

Im making about $40.00 - $100.00 a day just on pushing microsoft office products. There is a tone of non techies searching for these types of software. The affiliate program I use pays out weekly and is very loyal.

The key to the brand name software game is to rank high on key words containing purchase terms like buy, sale, discount, and purchase. Targeted traffic of people looking to buy the product is the key to the niche.

Im personally willing to walk some of you through it, to help you get the same success I am.

People are so close minded to the brand name software niche, which has left it very untapped.

So lets make some money and start a new trend.

    PM me with any questions.

Well, the forum rules clearly say that you are not allowed to pm referal links here, and it sure sounds like that is your plan, just be careful or you could get kicked out of the forum ;)

I remember reading somewhere that becoming an affiliate for anti-virus, anti-trojan/malware and system cleaning apps can be profitable if you do it right. Some of the CPA networks also have campaigns where you can offer a free trial and get paid for the email submit.

Also, as an affiliate, a review/comparison site would be a good way to go in that niche.

    Cheers!

@jgambul, if you're legit and on the up and up (meaning not just trying to blast members with your referral links), then good for you for doing well and being willing to help show others how.

My posting wasn't to say you can't make money leeching off the brand power of MS and Adobe and etc. in software, just that there are easier and more lucrative ways to enter the software market.

I'm sure you can get some level of conversions for name brand titles with a review site, but I'm also sure that more people will read your review and then purchase at eBay (for price) or the actual vendor company's site (for price and support) than will purchase through links from your review. It's just the way home consumers are with software purchasing.

However, be the exclusive place to order a particular software title (like one you create), or be 1 of even a few places to purchase a piece of software with no-name brand vendor, and use your same review process and you can see much higher conversion rates with it.

    Hey SB335,
I was in no way targeting you. I truthfully appreciate your adittion to this forum.

The reason why im coverting so well is because the company im dealing with as an affiliate has extremly competive pricing and they offer phone support. So I promote these things on my site, which has done very well to entice customers to go ahead and make purchases.

Is this neccessarilly the best way to make money in the software niche, who knows lol?

But it is a solid source of reveniew.

any way I just wanted to clear up that I was not targeting you at all.
