Maybe I'm going crazy, but I could swear I once ran across a software that could pull down the html files of an entire website. Has anyone run across something like that?

HTTrack is one of the best programs to do it.

Wget is nice, but the draw back of it is that it is only single threaded

Very true - I see others have used aria2 (http://askubuntu.com/questions/214018/how-to-make-wget-faster-or-multithreading) that seems to be multithreaded but if you install that you may as well go the HTTRack route (which is very good, used it a while ago)

HTTrack is very good I use it quite a lot. I know there is also a guy on here somewhere that produced some software for ripping sites from the web archive - not quite the same thing but might come in useful as well.

Httrack is awesome but it can be a pain to get used to. There's so many damn options and sometimes you'll try to RIP a site, get errors, have to start messsing with options til you figure it out.
Overall I love it though
There's also a program for Mac called... site sucker? if I remember right.
