Hi,

I heard about Social Signals...With that I mean Twitter tweets with my url,FB posts with my url, pinterest, g+ etc....

Are these still relevant? Should I buy some for my site or is it outdated?

Thanks

They are very relevant and always will be as long as social media is about. Buying social signals is fine but you should use it as PART of your overall strategy. Using this alone will not do much for you.

What the hell do you mean with relevant? If you think they're a ranking factor like Matthew Woodward suggests, well he's completely wrong on that one.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure. I know that I can rank sites without them, but I still build them just in case. I know they do actually have weight as far as bing/yahoo go.

They're part of a good link building strategy. They won't do much, if anything, on their own, however, not using them with some stronger links would be a waste of an opportunity. Regardless what some people on BHW say, it works for some - and doesn't for others. Just try it out and see if it works for you.

I'm not sure either but I'm pretty sure that high pr authority links are more important.

Even if it didn't help in boosting your site's ranking on search engines, you would still be getting traffic from promoting on social networking sites.

Whether you believe in Social or not, diggity marketing make a pretty good point IMO:

"Summary:
Moz recently said that they believe social signals only contribute to a total ranking factor of 5%. I agree.

In low competition niches, this 5% can make a big difference because it's you against other sites with zero SEO. Anything you do will yield a positive result.
In high competition niches, my analysis shows me that that social signals will give you a boost, but more importantly, social signals are absolutely needed to justify the backlinks you're getting. A site with 20 high authority backlinks and zero social signals simply doesn't make sense to Google, and it shouldn't. This is further backed up by some real money sites of mine that have died with no social signals, while others survived in the same niche that had social signals. If you're in a remotely competitive niche, then you need social."

I'm not sure I accept the premise of your question, OP - which is, that social signals were relevant in the first place.

As much as I've tried, I've never been able to get any rank increase from social signals. And, I've never needed them, in any case. My PBN's do the heavy lifting pretty well in most cases.

Only real signals are relevant.

Dont go for fiverr signals (1000 signals for $5 is a joke)

LOL like Google can tell the difference between real and fake likes/tweets (no they can't) do you have any idea how much extra computer power that will cost to figure that out, you do understand that Google is a business and if apparently very good at making people belief it can see/know everything you do, they can't..... Not by a long shot, and people who do real test know they can't.

So yes social signal are important to justify your backlinks, no google cant see the difference between real and fake tweets/likes, don't belief me test it yourself and see if there is any difference in ranking with fake or real social signals.

Hi Tony, I always like to see you post something about PBN, do you rebuild old content or use fresh article when building PBN?

On some cases they are very good (big social media pages I mean), for starters they wont do much!

Yeah, quality social signals still relevant. Fake ones are worthless.

Don't underestimate them. I think they can.

That was almost 4 years ago and they have gotten better.

Do you even understand how the scientific method works? Uncontrolled, correlation N=1 case reports like that are NOT proof at all.

Yes, I know this is not scientific proof. I said "some test results", this is SEO, everything is theory / best guess. There are too many variables, which cannot be controlled by anyone other than google. What I provided was something to back up my statement.

If you think they're a ranking factor like Matthew Woodward suggests, well he's completely wrong on that one.

How did you come to this conclusion?
