Social promotion - working solution or overrated SEO method

Hi guys,

I've started a new site for a while and I need your great 2 cents. Hope this turns to a fruitful discussion.

I promote every my new post to Twitter, G+,Scoop.it,Pinterest, Tumblr. I have followers and so on so my social profiles are active. However, my posts are slow crawled and indexed by Google. The posts in the social networks themselves are even slower crawled and indexed by Google.

Maybe I've chosen the wrong social networks. I'm thinking of trying Reddit and StumbleUpon.

What is your experience and good practices.

Those definitely aren't the wrong social networks, but why are you worried about indexing speed? Just curious.

Better chance of PR increase ? It is crucial for my site.
