I do not believe that social platforms request telephone numbers just to vertify accounts as emails does just that. By providing a telephone number does this give them access to your phone information, calls etc? Be honest!

You can verify by e-mail indeed, but the phone verification is the second way. After all, you can create a new e-mail in 1 minute, the phone number is something most people don't have more than one of.

No, by verifying a phone number they do NOT have access to your device. All they are doing is sending an automated text. Just like you cannot access someones device by sending them a text

Twitter will not allow access without a phone number

no giving out your phone number doesn't give them information about your contacts, logs, etc. Installing the app and giving the app the appropriate permission will give them such information

Keeps people safe which's good :)
May sms verify at http://SMSPva.com :)

They dont get any information because of phone verification, ist only for checking if you are a bot.

Cracking recaptcha cost around $3 per 1k cracked recaptchas but with proper skills you can lower it.
1000 sims + hardware to get sms etc cost way more, so for spammers its way more expensive to perform such verifications. You have services like smspva where 1 phone verification cost on average $0.1, thats $100 per 1k. Compare it to costs of breaking captcha (this costs can be nearly 0 if someone is pro) and you have answer why social sites asks for phone verification.

Another reason are brute force attacks, some spammers try to login to as many accounts as they can using dumb passwords like password1 (many people use such stupid passwords). Usually such spammer is logging in from different location and different device than account owner, in such case social site can ask for phone verification - this verification can be made only by phone linked to account so as you can see this approach can successful avoid stealing accounts on social sites.

As a lady, I would be careful about the camera in your phone

you are thinking for your own accounts, i manage 3k instagram accounts, so yes, it costs money

You manage 3k instagram accounts. Maybe you can address for me - why accounts are unjustifably deactivated? My account of 5 months was deactivated. No reason given, no explanation. I was just bullied by the staff into providing my personal photo. When i questioned why my account was deactivated. I was told i will not get access to my account and my case will not be dealt with. They automatically seize any communications with me and when i log a new case , they blocked my access.. explain to me the level of asshole behaviour of instagram for NO reason. My page was a beautiful artistic photomanipulation page where credits and permission of the orginial photos were given . So explain the unjusitifcation for this please

Exactly.. I do not believe for a second , it is only for verification purposes these social platforms are using this method .. Nowadays all social platforms are big on exploiting peoples personal information ..Just recently i signed up to a social platform with my new email address and for 15 minutes i could not get into my account and this is an email address i have been able to access for many months .

They are assholes rulers of the world and can do whatever they want, even if there is no reason.
I have the same problem with Fb and stopped trying to be admitted.
On Ig, mine is a different case. They kill 1 of my accounts and I open 5, because I can and are not personal.

PS: I gave you a like to ease your frustration a bit. Sorry

Thank you Lilithh55, i truly appreciate your kind words. Wow! 5 more accounts! Good on you .Serves them right!... To be honest. I did not expect that bully mentality from Instagram. Twitter , yes but not Instagram. When i lost my twitter account, instagram was a god send . It was a peoples platform . But it seems the ever increasing overflux of exploiting peoples data to gain money have dominating Instagrams trail of thought and its true commitment to providing a hassle free experience. I have never harassed or troll anyone and try to adhere to their policies , so to unjustifably have no account deactivated in such a callous , spiteful fashion is beyond me

first of all, they ban accounts based on several algorithm, i can not exactly tell you why, but i think you can follow the logic the find out yourself. first, email or phone, they have a system detecting phone and email spam, so did you verified the account with public service? if not, next, ips, ips is important, and try to avoid datacenter ips, if some crazy play shit in your ip set, you got fucked as well. if your own residential ip, is it too many accounts using it? then, fingerprinting, if you use real phone, ignore this, if web-based, and you have too many accounts there, 100% they will get you, at last, someone is reporting you for your content, they will not tell you, but when they got some reporting, they can ban you without any warning. My accounts got ban with rand 2%, after a week warm up, they are rarely banned.

I think it is more of someone reporting me because i recently signed up to another and added some of the people i was on instagram and now my account is locked, so i have a feeling who it maybe

I am not quite sure which apps are requiring phone verification. However, some of most frequently used apps have asked for my phone number just in case to be able to verify my ID in case that my account is hacked in some way. I personally dont have any issue with that as phone number can be changed

I provided my number and got a message to say that it is a unsupported number and the c!unts did not respond to my report of this and still manage to have my number . They where just lying about reasons why they need peoples number. They want to spy on people
