I am curious to know what is used more by brands in your country as promotional tools, Social Media or SEO? In my country (3rd world country) SMM dominates everything, almost no business uses SEO for their visibility.

In my country, brands focus on using social media to sell and build their brand through various methods, such as KOLs and other types of ads. Although they don't invest as much in SEO, it still plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving their brand image

It really depends on the stage of the market.
In developing countries, social media usually dominates because: It’s faster to get visibility, lower barrier to entry, immediate feedback loop, businesses prefer short-term ROI,...
SEO, on the other hand, is more of a mature market strategy. It requires patience, technical knowledge, and long-term thinking — which many businesses in developing markets aren’t ready for yet. However, this actually creates an opportunity. If almost no one is investing in SEO in your country, that means:
  • Lower competition
  • Cheaper rankings
  • Stronger long-term moat
Social media gives speed & SEO builds defensibility. The smartest brands I’ve seen don’t choose one — they use social to generate demand and SEO to capture and compound it.

In my experience, most brands focus more on social media for quick visibility, while SEO is used mainly by bigger or long term businesses.

it really depends on how mature the market is. In developing countries, social media tends to dominate because it’s easier to start, cheaper upfront, and gives faster results. Most businesses prefer short-term ROI and immediate engagement.

I am also thinking that customer behavior has a lot to do with it. If customers don't look for businesses on search but on social, businesses have no choice but to go with social media.

No one uses Google in my country to find a business, they usually go straight to Facebook or Instagram to find the details of that brand.

Interesting question. In many countries, brands use both, but social media marketing tends to dominate for short-term visibility and fast engagement. It’s easier to launch campaigns quickly and see immediate results.

However, SEO is usually stronger for long-term, sustainable traffic and higher intent audiences. In more developed markets, businesses often combine both using social media for awareness and SEO for consistent inbound leads.

It really depends on market maturity and digital awareness.

In my country, it depends on the level of the business.

Smaller or local brands usually lean heavily on social media because it’s faster, cheaper, and easier to understand. You post, run some ads, and see engagement immediately. SEO feels slower and more technical, so many ignore it.

However, companies that think long-term usually invest in SEO as well. Once rankings are established, the traffic is more stable and often converts better because it’s intent-driven.

In most countries, social media usually dominates, especially in developing markets. It’s faster, easier to start, and gives quick results, so small and local businesses prefer it. Customers are already on Facebook or Instagram, so brands follow the attention.

SEO, however, is more of a long-term strategy. It takes time and technical effort, but once it works, it brings stable, high-intent traffic. Bigger or more mature businesses usually invest in both.

In my opinion, social media creates awareness, while SEO builds long-term visibility and consistent leads. The smartest approach is combining both instead of choosing only one.

SEOsearch engine optimizatio is often prioritized for sustainability, building credibility, and reaching high-demand customers, while social media focuses on brand awareness and rapid interaction.

In developed markets, while social media is often likened to a "noisy party" offering quick but unstable reach, SEO is the building of sustainable "digital real estate." Businesses prioritize SEO because it targets customers with genuine needs and boasts high conversion rates, while also establishing a more professional brand image than simply appearing on entertainment platforms. If your country is completely dominated by social media, investing in SEO is your chance to capture the "blue ocean" and seize the highest-quality customer base that your competitors are missing out on.

From my eyperience, Seo is the best model in the internet because you can get with it organic traffic for lifetime.

Interesting question.
From what I’ve seen, most brands lean heavily toward social media because it’s faster, more visible, and easier to manage short term. SEO is used more by established businesses that think long term, but many smaller brands still overlook it.

Ideally, the strongest strategy combines both, but social media usually gets the early focus.

Social media dominates for fast results and brand awareness. SEO is used less because it’s slower but gives long-term free traffic.

Smart businesses use both: social for quick sales, SEO for sustainable growth.

In developed country SEO still remain the principal source of cheap traffic but it takes time and consistency

It’s very similar here. Most local businesses focus heavily on Social Media (Instagram especially) because it gives instant results and engagement. SEO is mostly ignored by smaller brands because they find it too slow and technical, but for long-term organic growth, it's still the king.

I appreciate your answers but most of them were about the difference between SEO and social media. I already know that. I wanted to know customer behavior in your country because companies go where customers are.
