Good Evening Everyone,
Sometimes I like to come on here and ask these questions because I view this place as a brains trust and can get really good insights from really smart and unique people. I was sitting up wondering how on this one.
In my country - a contentious issue is COVID-19 and Lock Downs. Over 75% of the media in my country is owned by one individual so in things like TV, News Paper and Radio - you will only get their side of the story and what suits them best. In this case, having quarantines, lock downs and measures in place to protect people doesn't suit them and as a result our country has been made a lot dumber.
A platform that some people are fighting back on is Twitter. There seems to be an ongoing war against on the take Journalists who side with the Right and The People who side with the Left. Journalists leaked information such as politicians addresses, phone numbers etc and incited violence.
- Fine. I guess it wouldn't be too difficult for a political journalist to get private info like Addresses and such of the politicians they deal with everyday.
Then you saw a strange action in response to this... People leaking some journalists information like numbers and addresses on Twitter. Just random people with Twitter Accounts. Of course, some of these people then got their stuff leaked like their phone number. I can only imagine that someone got their number from their associated Twitter Account.
It really got me wondering... How did these people do it? How did some random get a journalists address or a right wing supporter's phone number? How on Earth would they have been able to do this? I guess what interests me more is two people arguing behind screens on Twitter. They are no-bodies in real life - two civilians. They don't work for government or media yet after the argument, one of them is able to get the others mobile number and leak it on Twitter.
How the heck does that happen? How does someone do that? Is the info on Twitter secure?
Quite an interesting one for me.
