Social links get higher billing in Google

Over the course of the day Google will start rolling out new social search features that more prominently display content that connections on social networks like Twitter have shared. Google's been doing that for a while, but in the slums of the search results page: all the way at the bottom.

Now those results will appear interspersed with regular search results when you're signed into Google and someone on a social network that you have connected to your Google profile shares a link, with a note under the result telling you who shared the link and where. Twitter seems to be the big winner here, but any account linked to one's Google profile can be featured in results.

On a personal note I did notice that more of my tweets were popping up in Google alerts so I wonder if this indicative of a new trend.

Thanks, what is interesting is that the tweets are the same old tweets being posted but for some reason Google appears to be more interested. Could be a response by Big G to the Facebook challenge.

Intresting indeed! if you do alot of money making on twitter be handy to have you on my msn/skype as I do alot of blackhat and whitehat work on twitter mainly towards CPA offers

Not doing much with Twitter right now other than branding but that could change in a few months!

Could start getting some keyword tweets out there with links setup ready to start accepting link juice

I've definitely noticed that Twitter is great for getting indexed fast, and you can get some good rankings with Twitter alone.
