It depends on the domain where you leave the link, if you find good domains that are spam can give you a push in the SERP

Nowadays none of the experts using social bookmarking sites to gain backlinks (SEO).. Do Article, Forum, Blogging. Profile Creation, Press Release Submission for Traffic and Backlinks.

You won't notice any serious serp gains. But a few good manually built ones might give a touch of traffic and provide noise when someone is checking your backlinks.
