K so after listening to some howie videos i found out that Social Bookmarking != Web 2.0 sites.

Now the thing that sucks is that till now i thought that sites such as digg and stumbleupon, propeller etc are the web 2.0 sites everyone is talking about.

so WTH???

in that case what are the leading 2.0 sites that you guys use..?

from what i learned, its constantly changing. so u gotta follow the leading edge 2.0 sites that google is loving and pushing to the first page.

Well Web 2.0 is truly just a term for programming (like ajax) and having more user control of a website. So social bookmarking kind of applies, but Howie is talking about Squidoo, Hubpages etc. as his Web 2.0 properties.

One of the best tips I learned from Howie's program is to do searches for the really competitive terms like Viagra and see which sites are placing high and then use those sites for less competitive keywords.

Right now I just use Wetpaint, Hubpages, Squidoo (not as much now), and Weebly.

Rooro,

When you say 'use those sites' do you mean find out where that particular Viagra site is getting their links from and using that method?

He means find a site rating high for "viagra" and use the same Web 2.0 site as they are using with your own keywords.
So if a site is in the top 10 for viagra and its built on Squidoo for instance then build your own pages on Squidoo.
It means that at the moment Google is liking squidoo for some reason hence why the viagra link is ranking high
Go to Alexa Top100 and see what Web 2.0 sites are ranking high and go from there

There are a ton of 'web 2.0' sites but not all have the ability to rank. Like others have said, the best way is to check the serps for some keywords and see whats ranking. But bear in mind that some of these web 2.0 sites may have links flowing to them from other web 2.0 sites so its not just all 'natural' authority.

Social Media Daily had a long list of web 2.0 properties, social bookmarking sites are in one section and then you have the rest.

Exactly, see what your competition is using first. web 2.0 sites are where you post information, bookmarking sites are where you post links to information. I posted a thread a while back showing the top 50 web 2.0 sites: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo/66008-top-50-web-2-0-sites.html always watch out for new ones though, ie viddler and zimbio.
