Social backlinks and short URL's

Is having a backlink from a custom shortened URL going to work the same as using the raw URL when posting it to social media sites? Does Google see it any differently as long as it leads to your site?

I believe if the link gets indexed by a search engine, then it counts as a backlink.

Thanks. I was just wondering because some URL's aren't really suited for social signals when using Twitter for example. Didn't know if Google distinguishes between the 2.

Both are fine, just don't overuse shortened URLs toooo much or abuse them otherwise. A few here and there are ok, especially in Twitter/social.

Linkedin automatically shortens links when you post them, so that's one you can't avoid.

How would I abuse it or over use it? This would be a custom URL shortner I would setup myself. Just for this site and only used by me.

if the shorten url has been done by 301 redirect means this is good and google will see it as it is, if not, so it has no seo power
