So whats with the Google+Local now?
I went thru the links posted here and other threads, and they discussed the layout changes, how +1 is integrated with the page, zagat rating etc. blah blah blah

So how exactly is it different than before, in terms of ranking?
Do we still rank it with citations etc.?

Thanks

I want to know if I can still hire someone who did Google Places, and if that someone can rank in Google Local seeing how it's a new thing. I basically want to if I can still white-label a Google Local service and outsource the work to someone that can get the job done.

Google+Local basically takes Google+ Business listings, uses the Zagat rating system and puts them where places used to be. If you had a Google Places listing but do not use a Google+ Business Listing you won't be showing in local searches under the old places placements

Thanks for the info.
And how do I turn my Google Places listing to Google+ Business Listing?

What about ranking Local+?

Thanks again

Do you need a Google+ account to even take advantage of it? Or will it still show up in search results for users who havent registered?

SuperNoobInc - Google is doing this auto for you. If you need to create one from scratch currently the same backend still exist.

ourxp - The new G+Local needs a gmail account to claim but so far I have not seen where you need to "activate" a G+ profile.

Things are still changing and we don't know how far they are going to take this. This is happening right as I got a few clients so I am learning as I go. I think it will be tougher for reviews but over all it is the same backend right now.

With the Google+ profiles, you can manually add custom links. I used this to add my citations. Not sure if this will help, but it's worth a shot.

Can you give an example how you add a citation into Google+Local?

Example:
Go to yellowpages
Add your business information

A citation consists of NAP (Name, Address, Phone #).

You don't "add a citation into Google+Local." Citations are analogous to backlinks.

Anybody know if I need to bother with proxies or vps to add the +local page to G if I'm hitting another country from where I live? If proxies are needed, how airtight, like for CL, or no need to bother?
