No wonder they might soon start charging for even holding an account there :D

This is pretty much what tumblr.com has.
Facebook just wants more money I guess...

Possible new names:

Whohasthebestfacebook.com

howmuchisyourfaceworthbook.com

In-Your-Facebook.com

Posts are the same as usual. They still show up on the news feed of about 10-20% of your fans.

The promoted posts paid feature just makes it so your posts show up at more than 10-20% of your fans, as well as friends of your fans.

Also, promoted posts can be a good thing if marketed correctly, especially for small business owners.

They are going crazy.

Closing Facebook account. Its not making me money anyways.

They are trying new ways to make money (well.. who doesn't?) but I highly doubt they will charge people for opening / having an account (of course, you probably were being sarcastic).

i can see the price of these posts increasing and increasing in a not so short space of time

It's a sensible model. Posts wouldn't be seen by 100% of your fans anyway unless you were to constantly be posting it.

Thread title is misleading.

Back in 2008-9 All of Your Status Updates could be seen by Your Friends on their HomePage
Then Facebook Brought a Stupid Algorithm to Prefer feeds from Pages and Friends You are most likely to like that means most of status updates from your homepage were skipped
Then Facebook Started making money out of it
