So I started building a high PR network builder bot...

Check it out... not too far yet but you can probably figure out what it does. Its the find DMOZ listed expired domains method but adds content scraping. I'm building in a batch operation mode. So you can load your list of proxies, load a list of keywords, and give it a few parameters (like minimum pagerank etc) and then it will run through and look for matching DMOZ domains, find out which ones are available, and for the ones that are available rip the old content from the internet archive so you can buy the domain and breathe new life into the site so it looks to G-snoogle like it is still the same thing. Load it up, click a button, come back in a few hours and you'll have a drive full of content ready to go to regenerate the sites. I was building it for my own personal use so its not very polished and still needs a lot of work, de-dupe scraped results to unique domains, multi-threading, etc. etc.

Anyway, I'd be interested in any thoughts or suggestions.

Interesting. I've been experimenting with manually (SB) looking for expired DMOZ listed domains. I have a few already that I lucked into thanks to Crazyflx, but I would like to find more. I hit up the internet archive for my sites that I had but there wasn't much there worth saving for my existing sites.

Hmm, I may have to add Google cache in addition to internet archive...any other archiving sites out there? Those are the only 2 that I know of.

I just finished the multi-threading and proxy randomization for the DMOZ scraper. Before I go further I want to refactor it and make the scrapers pluggable so I can publish an API and people can add plugins.

I'm not planning to sell this so I'm not going to go to the level of effort to build in auto-updating and all that jazz. Its just a tool. No download link yet because its not ready to accomplish anything yet. But it will be soon, because I need it...

Basically, there's a guy competing in one of the keywords I was going after, he is doing this and it works. So i'm building a tool to do it too before Google kills it. If I can get even just 15-20 sites like this going in a small network it could be valuable enough without breaking the bank.

yeah title made me think of sth else but sound interesting. since most ppl think the buy old dmoz , high pr domains and then put new content on it to see their money wasted...
would be curois too.
so you planning to look for dmoz listed ones prior to expiration,rip the old content , buy them and put the old content up.

then use them for a own little blog network for backlining you r sites ?
