OK, I tried it a week ago today on a blog with a quiet high competition keyword. The good news is that over the past couple of days I have been getting around 160 hits a day which isn't bad considering this blog is only a week old. However the majority of hits are coming form one referring url from Russia which when I follow is a page offering a flat stomach, in other words spam. Now my link is nowhere on that referring page. WTF is going on? Have my hits been hijacked or what?

Would be interesting to hear some thoughts on this. Thanks a bunch, James:)

You are getting hit with referrer spam by someone who is attempting to get a backlink in one of your website statistic pages. The traffic is fake and only serves that purpose.

Oh and will it harm my site, or shall I just ignore it?

If you want, you can check whether it's coming from a single IP and block that IP.

My thought exactly, but other than that you can ignore it. You could also block hits from that referer in .htaccess, regardless of IP, but I cant think of what to put in off the top of my head.

The only benefit would be so it would not mess up your site stats with all the fake hits.

Well I can discount those, so no problem then, besides, if it doesn't hurt me and it's helping a fellow black hatter, then live and let live I say.

If they are successful, and you do have a statistics program running on your host that is publicly viewable, you will technically have a backlink to their website within your site, even though it isn't visible to normal visitors. I have seen many hosts that have those stats packages running by default, hence why they bother to referer spam in the first place.

Shi.t yeah, I forgot to ad that about three days after the Senuke blast, I was number 2 page one for a very high comp keyword, but it sank to nowhere within hours. Google dance, or Google beating stick?

    Home Page:
Most likely the G dance just keep building quality links and you should be back on top.

    First of all...

So your made a big mistake. Senuke is total BS, there a lot better tools out there with a lot more options and for a lot cheaper price.

And about your traffic... I had such thing once, site was trying to access image on my site, index.gif. Check if site is trying to access anything placed on your site. Open source of that site and check your links there

Magic submitter for example. Scrapebox is must-have, but not really for link building
