I log on to CNN and notice they are referring to the snow going on up north as 'Snowmageddon'.

    Is that really necessary?

It's frustrating to watch the news media going crazy over the weather. I mean, I understand that there's major snow going on in parts of the US...but doesn't it normally snow up there in the winter time? I mean, it's not like there's a major blizzard going on in the middle of July....it's only February (winter time).

On New Years eve i was watching the Headline News. I kid you not, the anchor lady asks the weather guy, 'Could you please explain to us why we're having such cold weather?'

You don't have to be a meteorologist to understand that (in the US) it's usually cold in FREAKING JANUARY.

I would understand the concerns if there were major blizzards going on in Florida or Hawaii, i'd consider that a little bit unusual....something to be alarmed about. But why does it seem that the media likes to panic when it's really cold in the winter time and really hot in the summer time? Seriously folks, no need to panic, my psychic powers predict that the snow will probably 'disappear' in March.

I understand pple complaining about the weather....we all do that, but i don't like this panic mode the press gets into when normal events happen.

anyway, for those of you stuck in the snow, go enjoy it. IDK...go build a black hat snow man or something......

We got hammered but come on. They will do anything for ratings and viewers. Next they will say we are going into another ice age (just the east coast, the rest of the world will still suffer from global warning, please)

Well I have been in the perfect spot for all 3 "blizzards" this year. They all dropped atleast 2 ft each on us. One was a little before xmas and the other 2 were saturday and yesterday. It really isn't a big deal. You just stay inside relax, and get some work done ;). Although I did spend hours shoveling our driveway

I know a few people who are pretty obsessed with the weather. Funny thing is that the only time they are outside is when they are walking to their car. Weather channels must be targeting them.

Washington DC got over 50 inches of snow. I'm not positive but that probably shatters the record.

And hey man, if you get that worked up about it, read a book instead of turning on the tube.

Glad to see its coming to you guys and not up here in the great white north.

I am all for global warming until it cuts our winter down by about 3 months.

don't get me wrong, i totally understand pple complaining and i empathize with you folks up there...heck, i'm usually the first to complain when it gets too hot in the summer.

but i hate it when the news gets hysterical.

A few years ago, there was an unmaned rocket launch in New Mexico. Something went wrong and the had to abort the mission and had to self destruct the rocket. this left a giant streak of light across the sky that looked kinda like a giant angel..you could see it all the way up in phoenix

When i saw it, i'm thinking, wtf is that....looks kinda cool I turn on the radio, and the DJ is going crazy.....starts to say that it could be freaking UFOs or an invasion (from who, idk...). The next day he had to issue an apology for the hysteria.

but are blizzards uncommon up north? My grandmother lived in Indiana and they had blizzards almost every year.

Yeah we got less than an inch here in MA.

They are getting desperate obviously. If any of you have been following the Mark Kerrigan thing where he killed his father by "accident" they have been showing more stuff about his sister/her past than about the actual present story. I am related to his ex wife who was on TV so I have been getting reporters showing up to my door for an interview about something that's unrelated to what's actually happening now..

They just want to milk everything they can for every penny they can get.
