i'm approaching to Twitter for the first time and was wondering,
is it possible that some of your posts go viral? And your followers follow you aka 'snowball effect'?

Happens all the time. One tweet goes viral and the dude gets loads of new followers ~

"Viral" is a squishy term. If you have a lot of followers, you may get a lot of retweets and in that sense just about every one of your tweets will go "viral."

Does it lead to a lot of new followers? In my experience, no. I wish it did.

The exception may be certain parody accounts that I see growing very quickly. Somehow they seem to attract to tons of followers.

This effect is not only on twitter of course. Pretty much all social media sites are affected by this. I always tell people that if you are creative with the specific monetizing method you are currently using then you can use this as an advantage to promote whatever you like. Viral anything make a ton of money.
