Does anyone know how I can get a edu link illegitimately? it's really hard to get one genuinely i.e. get the institution to actually link to your site. I ask because I just found this site "researchwritingcenter", ranking at number 5 on Google for the term "freelance writing". The site has a page rank of zero and 8 back links. Other sites on Google page one for the same phrase have a PR of 4-5. However, a closer analysis on Alexa reveals that these guys have one important edu back link from Berkeley. The rest of the back links aren't all that in terms of PR. The other sites ranking for this term on Google page one have as many as 500 back links.
.... how can I get an edu back link illegitimately

god I loved the open berkeley blog - it got me where I am today.

PR6 every page -a new PR0 going up to a PR6 in about a week.

I was pretty upset when they killed that one.

It depends how sneaky you want to be, I mean there are 'sneaky' backlink comments that range from sneaking a backlink in the middle of a big blog of related text to finding edu blogs that allows html and using span tags and css to 'hide' the backlink.

Of course the other end of the scale is to pay some hackers to inject one in.

... a follow up on that, I saw this, "edubacklinkreport" on a google search. anyone know anything about it? is it worth it, i'm thinking of making a purchase ... need to know if it's worth it before I make a purchase

do a search. Many effective techniques posted on this very board :)
