So I was just browsing some FB stuff and I stumbled across a guy who had copied David Guetta's profile pic and name but added a special character in there. See below:

Pretty crafty huh? Doing this right in front of people's eyes :D

People are actually liking the page all the time as well :)

Ha, it is indeed sneaky. If the real author is aware he will be able to report it and take it down.

Indeed very smart, and if he stays under the radar he can get big $$ out of it. David himself or his marketing team probably is not going to go threw thousands of likes and comments every day.
 
Wow! I am really starting to love BHW forums. Even if David Guetta marketing guys caught up with him, FB wouldn't take down his "Derek Fein" page? Would they?

Nah they couldn't take it down unless the actual page violated the T&C's which is very rare unless you have porn etc on the page.

This is sneaky indeed :) I am wondering how long before FB shut it.

Genius. Just started doing this using a local female celebrity. 30 likes on the new page so far. :D
 
nothing new, its an old concept but will get you shutdown real quick :(
 
This looks great. I just tried to sign up as a very famous artist though and it kept saying "it seems you are trying to register a celebrity" and wouldn't let me continue. However, if I sign up as a local celebrity then they are more likely to catch on. Interesting idea. If anyone finds a way around this, let me know :)
 
Actually never mind. I managed to sign up using a different email. I'll let you all know how this goes if you're interested.


Edit: I did this and saw my friend list grow to around 150 and then though maybe I could post affiliates or something. I commented on a few pages and eventually was reported. All in under 24 hours. Wild times. Ha ha.
