Snapcash

this will really turn snapchat from a image sharing platform to a more serious finance app now.

I don't see how they could see any other benefit to this than straight up ewhoring.

Will the transaction data be as secure as the photos sent across Snapchat?!

It's a collaboration with Square and Square handles the transaction side of things, so it should be secure.

What a stupid idea. I love how they disabled the comments on YouTube. I was just about to write something long...

How is it a stupid idea?

This is a brilliant move by Jack Dorsey.

If Snapchat are doing this, you can bet all the other messaging apps will follow - if Square can become the facilitator for those companies too, it will be a huge money spinner for them.

As far as the applications for it, it's a huge new market with hundreds of millions of users just sitting there waiting.

This should be featured in the Youtube's most funny fails of 2014

The only fail is you failing to understand the potential.
I think you're wrong .. I am not talking about the potential for us , IM guys .
No I am talking about the potential of the startup "Snapchat" . It is really a fail , take a look at techcrunch and some websites. even in youtube the video got more unlikes that likes .
It could bring some money to us .. but it wasn't the right move for Snapchat I guess .. :)
The CEO of Snapchat is trying to make a few bucks after declining the 3Billion$ offer from facebook , and that was his idea .. to send money through Snapchat ..

Now people can instantly send money for boobsnaps instead of other payment gateways.

You guys aren't seeing the obvious...

This move isn't about Square expanding their capabilities (although it isn't a bad thing for them). It's about Snapchat making money, something it struggles to do (badly).

Think about it. Millions of users are now entering their credit card information into the app. Millions!

Now if Snapchat is ever going to be monetized, it's going to be 10x easier, because everyone's payment information is already there!

Let's be honest, how practical is sending money through Snapchat? It's not! In my opinion, it's a really dumb idea in fact. And Snapchat is probably footing the bill for Square's integration and payment processing, Square just gets extra business from this, nothing revolutionary, because people aren't signing up for Square, they are simply using their payment gateway.

I think this a stroke of genius by Snapchat, and I know someone who averages 600k views on their Snapchat stories. And tonight he's going to ask for $1 in his story.

Oh I wish I was him haha, everyone is going to be so excited to test this thing out too many people are going to send him a dollar (I'm guessing).

When could this app ever be useful? I figure it will turn into a mobile chatroom that you can what a girl strip and do more and more per how much money you send her. I'm sure SnapChat has thought it out though

Kinda suprised no1 has given a mention to pyramid schemes yet... I guess they are illegal though.
