SMTP deliverability + gmail question

So I had someone set me up an SMTP server. Tested it on mine and his gmail and it ended up in spam in both cases. Is it because it's gmail? I intend to send only to custom domain emails such as [email protected]. Will this improve inbox rate?

Also, it's set up on AWS which is used to bot FB for something. Could it be possible that my IP is blacklisted because of that? Thanks.

No just wanted to know if you bought it from here.

Regarding the spam problem, there are a lot of factors that go in why your email might endup in spam. Did you warm up your IP?

Thanks. I took a look but I'm actually not sure it's referring to this. The article references the volume of mail you are allowed to send without being blacklisted. It doesn't address hitting spam.

While warming up IPs might be good to increase inbox rate (or might not, I don't know), this particular article doesn't address that.

Yea you are right. I just wanted to make sure you understand what is IP warmup is because this is one of the reasons that you might not be hitting the inbox.

Other reasons could be spam words in your email, subjectline, the from domain, sdf and dkim not configured..etc
