SMS Script

Hi

I am looking for a script that allows customers to enter a mobile number and send an sms from a web page. I remember there was a guy in the passed who built a widget that owners could install on there wordpress site and it would allow there customers (yes the visitors!) to send a free sms. (not for spam purposes, but just as a feature on the site).

Can anybody guide me in some kind of direction how this can be achieved? The guy has some software running on his local server which would allow the sending of the sms without to much hassle and correct me if I am wrong, but at a pretty cheap, in fact almost free way.
