SMM Panel Phone verification?

Hi, I recently tried to use services from a smm panel. I added a small amount of funds in my account and then it asked for my phone number for verification through OTP. I dont understand why they would need phone verification.
I never received said OTP even after multiple tries. I asked their support got a very rude response from them. I asked for a refund and they refused and said 'I dint ask you to send us money'. wtf..

So my question is: do SMM Panels ask for phone verification? coz this feels very shady.

In a way im glad I did not receive or share the OTP.

Never had a smm panel ask for phone verification before, sounds really strange.
 
Yea It felt super sketchy. Anyway thanks for confirming my doubts.
 
If they accept payment via paypal, may be for confirmation. But its not necessary, peoples can use virtual numbers :)

So I tried one of these virtual numbers on that site and did not receive any texts with an OTP or a code. These guys are most likely no good.

Definitely shady, lol. Unless they're super strict about security and 2 factor auth :confused:

Their 2 factor authentication doesnt even work.. I tried with a burner # and some virtual numbers. Never received any codes. Where can i name and shame them? I mentioned their domain name in my original post but i think a mod removed it.
 
I have a friend who runs a panel and he implemented phone verification.

I dont remember exactly the reason, but someone was spamming his site, creating hundreds of accounts, shit like that. So he put in place phone verification to stop it.

No idea how it worked out for him. I could ask him, but meh who cares :D
 
There is no reason why they should request phone verification. If you have been using it without such request, then something must be wrong
