If someone could help me out by reading this and maybe answering a couple questions. I feel that if someone clarified some of the stuff I was questioning and maybe offered a little advice I will be able to wrap my head around this a lot better and know how to get codin these sites to get closer to hitting every mark google is looking for to rank a site #1.

So I am learning about keywords and whatnot. I have a couple questions about how to optimize a site I have an idea for. I have noticed from the adwords tool that the word has several similar searches to it with slight variations. I want to make sure to get the traffic from each of these variations. Some of them for example for shoes, are Shoes la, What kind of shoes, shoe, shoe shoe, el shoe ect... I wanna know how to make sure that I rank as high as possible on each and every one of those related words. Here is what I have been thinking about however. If I put the word shoe in the title, h1, and h2 tags and whatever else is used to get ur site listed, (Would love to know more on this) and the different variations of the word in the key words. Would that word shoe count as adding density for all of the different keyword versions of shoe because of their similarity or would it not. That is my major question. Would shoe provide the required density for shoe shoe or el shoe? What are the rules to this. Would I just need shoe at the 3% density in order to hit all of those key terms? Would that not work and I have to stick w/ the shoe only keyword.

I'll be honest, what you're talking about is on-site SEO and it's importance has been diminishing over the last few years. Put your keywords in the title/url/meta tags/paragraphs and be done. Move on to things that will help you rank like building links.

Here are some links to basic on site seo.

Another observation I made just throwing it out there for any comments / further explanation, I saw a chart just recently updated that said 130-3000 words is the sweet spot for rankings. I believe this is true. I am really interested in how to out rank one site in particular. They have lots and lots of content on the front page maybe 3k+ words and the keyword is said over and over again maybe 3%+. The word I am ranking for also appears once in both of our urls. On my site I have 3 keywords I want to rank for. I need to take 3 peoples #1 spot on google w/ one site not counting spots for the word variations. My site actually provides more content than these other sites but the front page does not portray that. Assuming I can get more/better backlinks to my homepage w/ these keywords and write a 300 word summary at 9% density total for the 3 keywords, so 100 words about each keyword. Assuming I abide by googles standards would I be in a better position to take that number one spot than the guy with boatloads of content who has less quantity/quality of backlinks. Or would I have to match the amount of content the competitor has on the subject which gets me worried when trying to do 3+ keywords and the suggested amount of info on a page is no more than 3000 words or you lose ranking. My competitors sites have close to 3000 words w/ the keyword used often. How much does quality/quantity of content weigh in on these types of pages is what I would really like to know. Also wanna kno if I do have more content than my next competitor but it isn't visible from the title page is there a way to use it to rank higher.

According to a recent chart I looked at I did not see anything on there as I recall about content other than it needs to match the target keyword at a 3% density so I would love to hear more about this to get a better grasp. I do not recall reading that content length had anything to do with the ranking process. I would like to know the factors surrounding this.

My last question or 2 lol. This site seems to be the place to learn. Considering most of you have been in the game for a lil while I probably couldn't pick a better place. So if anyone could, please help me out here. I just need clarification on a couple things. I am seeing that backings to your page is the most powerful way to get your site to rank for certain keywords based on quality/quantity. I kinda know about no/******** links. You want less that 50% no follow but more than 1%. Understandable. What I want to know about is the relationship between backlinking, page ranking and the web pages in your site. If you put out a ton of backlinks to your homepage is what I am wondering, does that backlink power so to speak go through to all of your pages, articles ect. Obv that backlink will help rank your site based on the homepage keywords for the homepage b/c ur backlinks go to it. But, what I was wondering here was do you need to create specific backlinks and what the sort of protocol should be followed for each of the other pages in the site in order to get them to rank higher individually. For example on my site about shoes I also had a certain section for blankets for no reason exactly, kinda off topic. If I wanted to get the site ranked for the keyword blankets, just those pages with blankets on them, that specific part of the site, so I went in and changed the title, h1, h2s, h3s ect... (would like some more information on this actually as to the most optimal places to put he key word u wanna rank for) to blankets and made the keyword blankets for that specific page. If I had more/ better backlinks than all my competitors already but they all linked to my homepage where blankets isn't a keyword would I outrank the sites for blankets like I did for the homepage where the keyword was shoes, was optimized, had content, and received ample backlinks. Would those backlinks reputation transfer over and give credibility to the blankets article without having made backlinks specifically to that page of the site? I question this because I have seen articles that show up on the first page for all kinds of keywords and gotta know if thats cuz of the host sites credibility (backlinks to their homepage) coupled w/ a little keyword optimization on the page was able to rank it at the top or if that content was seo optimized to a certain extent and then )*I would like to know if this is how this works*( someone went the extra mile to put backlinks out for that article cuz they deemed it profitable boosting them to the top. Or how much of the cause for it being ranked so hi is purely based on content. If content has that much to do w/ it then what is the criteria for good content other than using the keyword the appropriate amount of times, if you need to have more content than your competitors or it would be better to just destroy them w/ backlinks. Is that a doable option? I feel as if there are other things that I am missing here that I ought to ask about. So if anything pops to your guys mind that even seems slightly like it could be the slightest bit helpful plz post. I want to be a true guru at this. All information given can be processed and be made useful if one wills it. I was also wondering it seemed like I read something on this, if we should put the same keywords at the top of each page on the site that we put on the homepage. I am guessing no but would not mind a little clarification on that. I want to know how/why/if those pages that do not get backlinks directly to them, an article for example, show up on the front page of a search. Also if having one of the same keywords on a page in your site as the homepage which I am presuming the backlinks are being directed to would have any effect on anything.

Continuing on I am guessing that the answer to my first question I posted was if you have title, h1s, h2s paragraphs ect all with the word shoe in them you can hit the 3% for each one at the same time if I am seeing this right just by using the word shoe as 3% of your content. If that works does anyone else know of any other good little tricks like that they use to get to the top of more listings. Also do you know if google frowns on such practice of taking similar or misspelled versions if your content which are often searched for and turning them into keywords. Also, what kind of limit is put on how many keywords you should use. What is good practice.

I would like to have some clarity on where to put info bout the site to best optimize for google. The way I see it now from what I have learned is there is a title tag which you wanna put ur keywords first, a meta keywords or tag don remember exactly, a meta description which is the text that shows up under ur site when it is searched for on google, then from there you are to put the keywords in the h1 left to right from importance and do the same for h2, h3. I was wondering the effectiveness of this, what sort of effects it causes and whether or not, I believe it would count, just checking but if the keyword density % is calculated in the words for the headers also. I would also like to know how useful using h1 , h2 , h3 tags are and if there are any differences / how they should be best optimized. I believe I read they can be used to get a higher ranking. I do not know how to use them quite yet however.

Couple more then I am done. I want to know what quote "Benefit of EMD for search term" means. It lowers your ranking and I wanna know how to avoid it.

I also would like to know what "External backlinks with stopword" are. You are judged on a % which also goes into calculating your ranking. I need to know what that means and how to hit the %.

The next one is about wordcount. It says backlink anchors should be <.4% of total wordcount. I am guessing that refers to any words turned into a link on your site time? Like a link to log in would be one backlink. I am also guessing this includes in text advertising. Seems like this is possibly the penalty to in text adds I was hearing about.

Ahhh the big one. The question I really needed to figure out. It is the % of backlinks with keyword. It says 1-33%. I am guessing you take a keyword and type it out, turn it into a clickable html link. That gives you a backlink w/ the keyword. I was also wondering if it was from people backlinking from different parts of their site. Like using the previous example website, if it had a backslash blanket--- and they used that as a backlink if that would be what they are talking about. If that is the case however, that seems like it would be unfortunate for me however due to the fact one of my keywords are in the url. I also wanna know if you are supposed to backlink keywords in a certain way or at all to get better results in one way or another.

One last thing. If anyone has criteria that google uses to rank the quality of backlinks plz pass it along. I would love to glance it over.

I hope to be a big contributor to this community. I am a fairly deep, wise, intelligent person and like to pass on what I know to others. Hopefully SEO will be one of my useful skills one day. I will be very greatful for any help. I feel that if someone with experience looked at this they could sort all these little things out with abit of advice. Thanks Again!
