Small question about SEO competition

I've been using Micro Niche Finder and Market Samurai. What I do is I use MNF to find a micro niche and then I check the actual competition in MS so that I can see what I'm actually up against. The thing that confuses me is that in MNF, I get a green check and very low competition according to that, but in MS the sites show up as stuff like HP.com, amazon, cnet, etc. But they're subpages that I'm up against rather than just the domain it self, such as http://amazon.com/category/489984u8934yytg9945/product.html, except a lot more elaborate than that.

So I'm wondering if I can go up against that or if I'm screwed

Also, I'm doing an adsense blogger page. Using Paulie Ciara's free weekly backlinks and posting a few spun articles to the blog every day, it would take about two weeks to get indexed, right? Would that just build natural traffic over time?

I'm going to try writing articles for it too, I've had a lot of success with them in the past as far as traffic goes, not so much for sales

There will be alot of differing opinions on this. But I generally never bother going up against Amazon or Cnet.

At the end of the day, You CAN beat them. But the time it takes for you to beat them, you could have dominated 2 maybe 3 niches that are just as lucrative.

It would basically be like finding 3 niches, that all bring in the same amount of revenue, but 1 is dominated by big players like amazon. Why bother? Sure you can make some money. But the time would be better spent elsewhere on stuff that is just as profitable.

There are exceptions to this rule, when it is an extremely lucrative niche/keyword.

Also as a side note, if your doing tangible tech items. Always be in for the long haul, these are always dominated by long time review sites + cnet, amazon etc.

Cool, I'll try some other niches then. It doesn't take much work to start with blogger, but I'm gonna start making my own sites when I get some sort of revenue

Oh, what about niches with authority sites that have high domain ages? I'm not talking about cnet or amazon, but more like websites in the niche that aren't optimized for the exact keyword but are in the niche in a broader scope. I still don't have the money to start a website, and I don't want my first one to be wasted on high-authority sites

any help? I'm having a lot of trouble finding niches, damn

Try focusing more on your keyword research. Every niche has low competition keywords that you can rank for. Sometimes it take a little time to dig them out, but they are there.

It's all about how confident you are. Domain Age does factor into things, although I think the majority of that is because they have been around for a long time, they have picked up ALOT of backlinks.

I don't own Microniche finder, But very few tools pick up on things like Amazon and Cnet being in the serps. At a guess, I would think it just looks at backlink counts, competing pages etc.

If this is your first time trying to SEO something, Then start extremely simple. Possibly even keywords that get hardly any searches, but have reasonable amount of results.

The worst possible way to enter something like this, Is pick something just out of your reach, and you don't end up ranking anywhere. It isn't how hard the niche is to crack, but your lack of tactics. It takes time to learn the in's and out's of SEO. Even if you are blasting things with Xrumer all day long, sometimes you need a few extra tricks up your sleeve. And you can learn these, and get your stripes, on easy niches.

You are right, there are so many different opinions.

And as for me, I beg to differ from yours.

I have so many times ranked higher than Amazon, Cnet, and all of similar "STRONG" sites like that.

They might be on the first page. But in regards to the MICRO NICHE competition, normally they are not OPTIMIZED with that specific keyword that you are aiming for. They might have 1000 backlinks, but not from any specific anchor texts.

That's what a tool like MNF do. It analyzes the kind of backlinks the sites have, not just the numbers.

So my advice is, dig a little bit more deeper and you'll notice that in most of the cases, I am right.
