These are some tools for newbies who could not or always need to know which tools to do what. All of them are used for whitehat SEO techniques in my term. Therefore, if you're building your online properties for long term, it could be useful.

Everyone's favourite keyword analysis tool? Is Market Summarai still as effective as it used to be? Or do people prefer Ultimate Niche Finder or Long Tail Pro?
 
For a newbie like me - can anyone give a list of the best free or low cost tools to use before the income picks up?

I found using the combination of manual analyzation is better. By using the tools such as Ahrefs or MajesticSEO for backlink analyze & manual on-page analyze is the best option rather than relying on the the algorithm of those automatic tools.
 
I've only used free versions of Ahrefs and MajesticSEO and Ahrefs seems to provide a lot more data - I want to decide which of the two is preferred though.

These are:

Screaming Frog SEO Spider - that's a very simple but useful app that spiders websites? links, CSS, images, scripts, etc. The tool fetches key onsite elements for SEO, presents them in tabs by type and lets you filter them for common SEO issues.

WebMeUp Backlink Tool - a cool free online free backlink checker. What is cool about the tool that it's fetches link data from one of the largest backlink indexes, and lets you find maximum links for any analyzed site.

I guess these 2 apps will be a nice addition to this list. ;)

You missed another Rank Tracker EZMLM serp checker.
 
For me really nice app SEOquake, for fast checking google results :)
