Slow Loading Times on My WordPress Site – Here's How I Fixed It!





One day, I realized my WordPress site was slower than a snail. Visitors were leaving before the page even loaded! I felt frustrated and helpless.

After diving deep into optimization strategies, I found out that large images and too many plugins were the culprits. I used the Smush, WP Rocket (Optional) and deactivated unnecessary plugins. The improvement was incredible!

yeah, uninstalling (especially bloaty ones) plugins oftentimes helps. And image optimization plugins are also good, also I would suggest you use Perfmatters for even better optimization, that plugin is very good...

Regarding your CTA at the end of the thread, though... don't try to sell anything outside of the marketplace or you risk getting banned.

You don't need wprocket if you are using a fast hosting siteground, kinsta, wpx or wpengine etc
There you go 2 less plugins.

There´s no exact number it all depends on different factors and, one of the most important are:

• The type of plugin you´re using
  • For example, some plugins are a nightmare to use, not because they don´t work properly but they are very intrusive when it comes to page loading speed. Here´s a comprehensive list of those plugins - Avoid these plugins at all cost!
  • Are those plugins being updated regularly? Are they compatible with PHP 8.0+?

Indeed! Make the habit of optimizing the images BEFORE you´re uploading them to the site. Personally, I like to use Squoosh for this. This is a free online image optimization tool that works like a charm!

So, when it comes image optimization I like to upload 2 versions of the image, one for desktop (1,000px) and one of mobile devices (500px).

Hosting is perhaps one of the most important factors that directly affects page loading speed and, at the same time, it´s one of the factors that people underestimate the most.

There are also so many free plugins that do even a better job than WP Rocket. Personally, I have had a better experience using Perfmatters + Litespeed in comparison to using WP Rocket. In fact, I don´t think WP Rocket is the best all-in-one performance plugin for WP, for me that title goes to FlyingPress.

Kinsta was great during its launch years, after which I discontinued my subscription. How has Kinsta been performing recently?

Smush and WP Rocket might not be working simultaneously?
