Slow Loading Sub-Domain Impact on Root (SEO Related)

Guys.

If you have a sub-domain that has a different WordPress theme that has a very low score on the Google Speed Test, could this impact the performance of the root domain in terms of SEO? I consider sub-domains to be seperate, so would the root not be impacted by the poor performing sub-domain?

The only impact will be if the sub-domain is 'wasting' the hosting/server resources which will make the root website have troubles regarding it.
