Sleep Less: It's Not Harmful For Health

What a joke, 3-4 hours .... you won't last even a week.

I try to sleep 6-7 hours when I'm not tired. But when I work out, I need over 9 hours of good sleep. I'd gladly reduce my sleep to 6 hrs max, I value my time.

7-8 hours is the best if you go early in the bed.The sleep that you get normal night hours, lets say 12:00 - 8:00 is the best.Nothing can replace night hours sleep. If you sleep more or less ,you may get some troubles. This is my personal experience.

P.S some relaxing music can help you a lot.
Take care brothers

I have to strongly agree with madoctopus. One of the reasons I've chosen to work with IM is because I can work on my own schedule. When I do in fact work, it's for long periods of times. When I sleep, it's for long periods of time.

It may not be harmful to sleep for 3-4 hours a day, but your brain simply doesn't function at it's highest possible level under that kind of stress.

For OP, there was a 6 months polyphasic sleep experiment done by blogger steve pavlina and every day has been documented on his blog.

This is the URL

He stopped it after 6 months or so as he was awake when everyone was sleeping and
he also could not drive as he had to take that nap every 4 hours ( he mentioned that he could not fight the urge to sleep and had to take that nap every 4 hours )

Polyphasic sleep sounds sexy but is not practical.

As far as sleep is concerned, i found that following what your body tells you is the best for your health.
During exam times in college, there were days when my friends and i didn't sleep for 2 days continuously
but then slept for 12 - 14 hours continuously in the breaks.

Exactly 8 hours of sleep daily, no more and no less. That's the optimal time to guarantee muscle recovery and bodybuilding is just as important to me as getting work done is, in fact you can do both while getting decent sleep. It's all about making the most out of your day the time you're awake.

I mostly sleep for 3-4 hrs a day and I have made it a habit. It has not done anything bad to my health yet and I have been doing this for the last 6-7 years, if not more..

just rembered bout those guys that never slept again:

sleep is still one of the most interesting topics in my opinion :) personally i could sleep 12-14 hrs everyday. but usually between 4-8 hrs.
