I have used skype for many years and never had a problem with video. Recently (without updating the program), I can get online for about 10 minutes before my connection crashes. Not only does skype hang up but I can't even load a webpage. I have to unplug the router and plug it back in, wait a couple minutes, then the connection comes back.

This happens on my XP laptop, Windows 7 desktop, Ubuntu laptop, and even my Andriod phone so I figure it's a connection or router problem.

Does anyone really know what to do? I'm not too experienced with all the port settings and that router type language too much but maybe that's the issue.

I have checked online to find many posts showing people complaining about the same issue but generally there are no solid answers provided.

Have you changed or updated your router recently?

It's the same router and same connection that I have had for the last couple of years. I haven't changed any settings on it. In fact it hasn't moved from it's spot for at least 2 years.

Sounds like your router is on its way out then.

Maybe, but it doesn't do this with any other application. It stays on without issues and good connection speed until I use Skype. I downloaded 8 gigs of files today with no issue. I get on skype twice for 10 minutes and it goes out.

You could try enabling Quality of Service (if your router has it), other than that I can't think of anything else, sorry :\
