you need to like when you open Skype web based or on your phone it will tell you we move to team or something i don't remember after click it redirect you team also you can download apk from play store already 1M download & yes team is much better thn Skype am using it.

you can get back each & everything on team when you migration on team you will see your all old chat history

Yeah, I mean do I need to download Teams by a certain date or can I just uninstall Skype for now and when I log into Teams later my data will be there?

I would suggest to make all migration before end April, less issues for sure

i did that, uninstalled Skype and installed Teams and logged in with the skype credentials.

Yes, it does migrated as well. But the display names of those you chatted with on Skype might change.

BTW I have migrated my Skype US phone number to one of US VOIP providers without any issue

Wow. I didn't know Skype was still being used a lot. Here in my country it became obsolete a few years ago. Nobody even pronounces its name anymore. It's like the old Mirc and MSN. However, it seems that in May they will end their cycle completely.

If you’re on consumer Skype (the regular @hotmail.com/@outlook.com service), Teams won’t migrate any chats or files automatically—they’re separate cloud services. There’s no built-in import for your history; it stays in Skype.
If this is a Skype for Business → Teams migration in an organization, your IT admin must enable the “Teams Only” upgrade in the Teams Admin Center. New chats flow into Teams, but legacy SfB chat history remains in Skype for Business—it isn’t auto-imported.
