Did skype remove the option to sign up with a username? I can't find it anymore, as the register page just redirects me to microsoft live.

Yes, anyway, existing account should not effected right?
I think I still can signin with my existing username.

No, if really. They made it by default. But we tried to solve this problem and found the way. You need to contact Skype support and talk about it. They will give you link to registration. It can't be found on skype.com at all. But they have it. And the form (from this link) will have username field.
