Guys back in 2010 i started building my business most of my business in forums and in my skype now ,my skype has more then 3k+ contacts ,my laptop is struggling to load the contacts and chats ! what you guys are using ,upgraded to discord or something or still using skype ,if using skype with many contacts whats the min spec you use ,is it lagging when you try to load the chat ?
Need your input thanks

When it comes to hardware, the advised more RAM and an SSD can help a lot. Apart from that what you can do even now is a disk defragmentation, if you have a HDD. That should help too. Also, the more free space you have on your HDD, the faster it is. If you have unnecessary stuff on it, consider deleting or moving it to another storage. These are the things, what you can do with your present hardware to gain some speed.

Do you need all the 3k+ contacts, even those dating to a decade back? You can surely attempt a purge and remove a smaller or bigger portion of the contacts.

Other than this you should use, what most of your present clients use. If they still use Skype, you're stuck with it, i guess. If they use Discord (too), Slack perhaps, then you can consider moving.

Upgrade to 12 GB RAM and change to SSD which helps, I actually did that to my old laptop and it works fine now.

yeah skype never do their optimization nicely.
Moved everything to telegram, Smooth now. Takes quite a while to do the transition though

Intel Carlton 4 GB ram 12 years old laptop, more than 5k Skype contacts loading fine. Reinstall Skype and keep more free space.

Upgrade laptop. My best advice.

I was having issues with Skype etc. Laptop was five years old. Bought a new laptop with 16GB RAM, i7, 1TB SSD. Not looked back. Works really well some virtualisation as well.
