Just wanted to share this infographic about the bad sides of sitting all day long. This info is perfect to those IM'ers who work their ass off on chairs all day, or even just 8 hours. It isn't just good!

I wonder how to work as an IM without sitting.

here it is.

Realistically in my opinion (as a cellular and molecular biologist) it's not true. The references are garbage too and no scientists would take it serious so I don't think the public should either.

Last week my Dr said "I told you your your sciatica nerve is going out". It hurts, back left of scull is numb and right thigh feels like needles. Worse than cramps. His fix is less padding on chair, get up every 15 and work out...

I've been doing the standing work station thing for about 10 months, and I think it feels a lot better than sitting at a Desk. My body seems to like it more too. My knees would bother me from sitting, standing, doesn't.. you'd think it'd be the opposite.

I don't really understand the whole "sitting makes you fat" thing. It's just kind of bizarre that they are talking about people eating too much, in a post about people sitting too much. Like buddy, it's one or the other.

Its ok for me tho, I am lying on my bed. :D

This is bad science I'm afraid and they have misinterpreted their data.

Sitting does not make you fat and sitting does not increase your chances of dying.

Replace 'sitting' with 'a sedentary lifestyle and bad diet' and there's your answer.

People with a sedentary lifestyle and a bad diet are clearly going to have the health issues listed in the infographic.

ALL people sit. And yes, this demographic sits more, but sitting is not the problem, it's the diet and lifestyle.

If all data was interpreted this way we could say that breathing causes cancer, diabetes and ebola.

So if you sit in the pub drinking and smoking you really should be dead by the age of five?

I have tried a standing desk before. It's difficult for a bit but you get used to it pretty quickly. Especially if you put a mat under your feet. After a while you can really feel the difference, in a good way. Not to mention the few extra calories you burn. I find it difficult for fast writing work though.
