Are you aware of any site where I can pick some elements and make some decent looking inforgraphics and then export it as a jpg/png etc to host on my site? I would ideally like to have a free site. Please let me know if you are aware of any such options.

If I were you, I would shell out the cash for a really good infographic. It's not easy to make them on your own unless you're a very good copywriter AND graphic designer. They need to successfully tell a clear, concise story using both words and graphics. Because spiders can't check images, in my opinion, infographics are the future and definitely worth the extra money.
