I have some sites which I've just built and have already started ranking on pages 3-5 for their keywords. I guess I did some quality on-page Search Engine Optimization, but the ranking urls are not for the main domain but for the posts.

I haven't done any link building, but when I start should I focus more on building links to the post's urls which are ranking well already or to the main url?

Start building links now.

I recommend building 60% of the links to your homepage, with no more than 3-5 anchor texts and the rest pointed to internal post pages with 1 -2 anchor texts.

Remember that you'll see a lot of movement when your past page 3 results, especially during linkbuilding. So don't freak out if you drop to page 100+ and then back up to page 3, thats normal Google behavior.

Unless your domain is a couple years old I would say it just shows that your keyword is not that competitive.

This happened to about 5 of my sites as well but after few months it all got settled. That is, no more rankings :) so now It will depend on how many backlinks I can get in future.

Actually this happens due to QDF part of Google algo that ranks the fresh/new content for few days and then settle it down for the actual position.
