I have as well, it's such a money maker for them.
Sil3nt, there are no others I'm aware of with the same backdoor/upfront payment format that AC has. There's other freelancing sites like Constant Content, Triond, and others, but you have to wait for someone to make an offer on your articles, which can take forever. (sorry if I'm telling you things you already know)
I'm sure it's just a matter of time before someone copies AC's business model and sets out to give them some healthy competition.

How much do you think start up would cost?
Plus, would have to know where to get all that money from to pay everyone. I'm sure AC isn't earning from Google Ads alone.
Somewhere in this forum are at least 2 giant lists of other sites, like triond, helium, etc. All the sites have their own rules or methods of paying, so it will be worthwhile to research them or at least go thru this particular forum for more info. AC has been the easiest way for many so far, but it's getting to be more difficult getting paid.

Werrich is right, there are some great resources tucked away here at BHW with writing sites. A few more that come to mind are Demand Studios, Brighthub, and Textbroker. They tend to be more strict than AC though and there's a substantial delay in getting payment offers from them.
It's hard to say Milly, but I'm sure if you had the upfront capital it could be a great money maker.

Unless you have lots of money (by lots, I mean L*O*T*S!) don't even think of competing with AC. Why do you think other giants are not coming up with a parallel site? Surely the top online brains must have thought of putting up a parallel site as soon as AC was becoming successful, but there is still no serious competition to AC? Hmmm....
