Sites Doling Out Links With 403 and 405 Crawl Errors - Links Issue

Hello all, I got some natural do follow links from a few different sites and after a month or so, I noticed all the links from these sites are showing up as 403 or 405 in Ahrefs...is this their way of making sure they dont pass link equity? Outside of the normal "crawl error" designation message from Ahrefs...I haven't seen any links with this issue from any other source or on any other sites I manage...im wondering if this is some sort of link scam...
