Sitemap Analysis

Hi SEO Experts,

I have one question for you: How to analyze a WordPress-based website's sitemap? And what types of URLs can we ignore and what kind of URLs should we keep in our sitemap, Pls help.

Analyze for what? Are you crawling a wp site or do you mean for like optimizing a sitemap for seo and stuff?

And what types of URLs can we ignore and what kind of URLs should we keep in our sitemap, Pls help.

WP Generates a lot of cruft. If you are generating sitemaps it should only include posts and nothing else. Depending on the theme and setup you might have useless tag pages, category pages, author pages etc. You should keep them out of the sitemap since most of them will either be blank or only have one or two links/paras and google will count it as thin content.

To analyze a WordPress-based website's sitemap, you need to first find the sitemap URL. WordPress automatically generates a sitemap for you, which you can access at yourwebsite .wordpress.com/sitemap.xml. The URLs that you should include in your sitemap are the ones that you want to show up in Google's search results. Pls, suggest how I remove tag pages, category pages, and author pages from the sitemap.
