Hi guys,

Just a quick question in regards to thoughts on having a site wide banner in my side widget, that acts as an affiliate link.

Example scenario

Blog is about Dog Grooming Product Reviews
Lets say i use retailers as part of my affiliate programme. The main retailer i link to is "Dog Grooming 4 u"

In my widget, i have a graphic promoting 10% off all products when you use "mycode"

Clicking this image links to the retailer (via affiliate link)

Any negatives about doing this?

Use link shortening plugin or manually use link redirection javascript code to hide the affiliate link. As, Google doesn't like affiliates.

Use a professional cloaker. Some see the link. Some don't. Can't explain that. - Bill O'Reilly

I'm posting in this thread, because I consider my question to be relevant. I've tried putting some sidebar ad widgets on some of my sites. I've got adblocker and if I don't unblock my site, the ads remain invisible. Any way to circumvent the disapperance of these ads? The ads contain a 307 redirect link of the affiliate with prettylink, like site.com/monkeygeneratorforme . I've seen other blogs with sidebar banners that are not blocked by adblocker.

I use the same thing as you do.

Conversion is very small.
Perhaps 1000 targeted traffic your blog, will convert 1 sales.

You can add email subscribe.

And placing banners at strategic places.
As the header

If you are going to have it sitewide then create a php redirect so the link appears to be internal.
