Site tanked - Negative SEO?

Hey there!

August 29th traffic dropped by 70% overnight has anything like this happened to someone here?

I think it could be related to some idiot who wrote an email on 25th of June of asking for money on his fiverr gig or he will do negative seo which I of course ignored. Would those links take effect only now after 2 months? Bad thing is I cant find any on ahrefs or even google site:website.com.

Any ideas what to do about it?

I will never understand people who take time out of their day to negitavily impact someone else

I doubt he would have sent any links, it was probably just a threat. Monitor your backlink profile.
You mentioned your traffic had dropped, but have you seen any change in ranking?

if you can't find your site using site:website.com then your website has been penalized. See if there's any messages in GWT. Though that won't fix anything it'll give you peace of mind. Create a new site and move on. (This has happened on me multitple times in the past.)

Majestic found those links, they were 200 links from just one site which did the job overnight, did not know it is so super easy to tank the site like this.. He pointed links at image locations, deleted the urls but it redirects to main page of course, is there anything else on my website I should do? In GTW there is a penalize, disavowed the site and applied for revision.

Did I do everything or there is something I can do more?

if you found 200 links this is negative seo campaign and you website is not penalized.Must disavow instantly or you will get in deep dive.This happened with me last week and was same case.After i disavow the domains links all get back to normal.
But there is little trick you must apply.
Latest update is gold goose to NEGATIVE SEO guys.
Its much easier now to tank and sink website than before.
Now even rankings are moving faster than before.

Negative aspects of campaign can be roll out on 2 ways
1 way to send over 100 links in just of couple of hours even you will see that are not spam (porn,casino or any related) they use your keywords and website is instantly affected.This means SEO Nuke,GSA Ranker and similar are off the table anymore and will cause you a lot of problems.

2 way is adding you spam with Content url link in format [domain.com/?s=keyword-keywords] where anchor is some kind of drug Activan,Tramadol etc .
If you have https engaged the harm will be destructive on your website although source is empty.
5 per week will be enough.

Google is penalizing all pharmacy related website and last month drop traffic over 80%.New rule of online pharmacy where dot pharmacy must be registered ,If you have such problem i can help you in big.Ive fix several pharma website in last month.

This trigger question that we must protect the Whois privacy for domains.
